The Historic and Iconic St Thomas Mar Thoma Syrian Church, Pattoor becomes the first church in the capital city of Kerala, Trivandrum to upgrade its Audio systems with world class solutions from Tannoy, Turbosound, Lab.gruppen, Behringer & Audio-Technica India, after The Basilica of Our lady of Mount Carmel & St Joseph, popularly known as Varapuzha Basilica in Kochi.
Lore goes that Diwan C P Ramaswamy Iyer had opposed the church construction . As oppositions from the Diwan ended, Church works resumed in 1943. The church was consecrated in 1945 By Abraham Mar Thoma Metropolitan. This Iconic building, which resembles a castle, has been reconstructed in 2021 to accommodate more people inside. Recently, the then Canterbury Archbishop Rev Rowan Williams visited the church and it has great Historic importance.
